Old, ungainly, and exceptionally slow are all words used to describe the Vapken class monitors. Though all of these claims are true, critics of these river monitors cannot ignore the massive armament and heavy armor of these floating fortresses. Carrying a main gun second only to those mounted on the North Shurkan Freyr Class Battleship, the Vapkens are also equipped with a myriad of other heavy guns and AA pieces, which, though outdated, are kept in excellent condition by volunteers. In a potential combat situation, these monitors would be deployed near key inlets and on rivers, utilizing their massive main armament to decimate enemy ships from a distance. To make up for their lack of modern RAE equipment, observation aircraft would radio in the coordinates of enemy vessels and troop formations to the Vapken, which would aim their guns according to the given coordinates.
