Originally to counter any possible submarine threat, the ships of the Tizhki class commonly escort Reserve Fleet battlegroups on training excercises and war games. Though slow and under-armed by modern standards, the Tizhki class ships are still capable of countering enemy submarine attacks with their array of sonar, torpedoes, and depth charges.

The ships of this class are named after famous Aesmundi-Derian sailors.
