The Parliamentary Republic of Sjertiva (Sjerti: Radets Rejpublik par Sjertiva) (Phonetic pronunciation: /ʃɛər.tiː.vʌ/) is an Aesmundi 'constitutional' Monarchy. Though once a major regional power on Aesmund, Sjertiva has long been torn by war, political corruption, and crime, making this once proud and beautiful nation a wasteland.

History
Main Article:History of Sjertiva
Though the recorded history of Sjertiva begins in 1549, it is widely believed by Sjerti historians and archaeologists that Sjertiva was originally a loose confederation of warrior tribes. Danetian history suggests that many raids came from where Sjertiva now currently is, and artifacts further substantiate the theory that Sjertiva was originally home to barbarians.
In 1549, after a long period of inter-tribe fighting, Sjertiva was finally unified (somewhat) under the rule of the first Kral, Koim Jveris.
This first period of Sjerti history is often very cloudy. Many theories exist about what may have occured, but the consensus amongst historians is that a great civil war erupted roughly 30 years into Koim's reign, fought between the supporters of the monarchy and the native Sigoyn People. Though the Kral's forces were ultimately victorious, Sjertiva was crippled, and the Sigoyn population was roughly halved.
Government
Sjertiva is, and for the duration of its recorded history has been a monarchy. Though the world has developed politically around it, Sjertiva is still ruled by a Kral, or king, and parliament. The parliament is bicameral, with an inner parliament (Known in Sjerti as the Kjlag Svdejrme, or "Center Council") consisting of Dukes and the Kral himself, and and outer parliament (Vrinje Svdejrme) consisting of representatives from the cities. The Kral has his own personal advisers, but they serve only as such and are typically not members of parliament. Throughout Sjerti history these advisors have been hand-picked by the Kral himself, and as such are often his friends or relatives.
Outside of the parliament, there are numerous bureaus and committees for agriculture, archaeology, record-keeping, public health, industry|, and transportation. Though these exist, there has not yet been a bureau dedicated to the environment in the history of Sjertiva.
Historically, a Kral will come into power on the date of his 16th birthday. If the current Kral (most likely his father) dies before his heir is 16, the throne will be passed to one of his siblings. As such, it is not uncommon for a dead Kral's inept brother or sister to be put upon the throne. This has had drastic consequences historically.
The historic home of Sjerti Royalty is Djeret Palace, though most political affairs are conducted from the Sjerti Grand Parliament Building.Though it is named as a Republic, Sjertiva is technically a monarchy.
