Pallando Azarian Rex Lord Greyhame, Ph.D. GCW KC OC, born 14 August 2090 and christened Pallando Azarian Talimar Doderic Rex Greyhame on 20 August 2090, is the current General Minister of the Antaran State. In this capacity, he oversees the various State Bureaux and specialized independent agencies that provide critical State services but are not in the purview of the four Adepti Maestro, all of which together form the General Ministry. He is a ranking member of the Adamantine Lords and a close advisor of the Praetor.

In formal text, his full mode of address is His Eminence Doctor Pallando Azarian Rex Lord Greyhame, GCW KC OC, General Minister of Antara.

His honor name in Via Vesica is Lord Avo Maladi.

Life

Youth

The House of Greyhame has called the sunny coastal regions of Oplovis Province home for centuries, and as such their love of the outdoors is a great part of their lives. Likewise, young Pallando was no different and still is humorously called a "beach wanderer" by his friends within the Adeptus Antara. His father manages the family firm, and both of his paternal uncles are career military men, one in the Classis and the other in the Aeolancia.

A devotee of painting, Greyhame continued to improve his skill in the art even as he pushed his mind in the advanced mathematics, science, and history courses his secondary education demanded of him. He became a skilled herbologist as part of his chemistry and survival training courses, and also scored very highly in history and mathematics.

Military Service

After graduation from the University of Oplovis, and completing his bachelor studies, Greyhame joined the Navy and went into the Legio Classis Antara. After completion of basic training and the Naval War Academy, he was assigned to the Black Sword Legion, First Fleet. He earned certification in Echani and certified as a Grade 4 Marksman. He was a junior officer in the Skybreakers alongside many of those who he would later work with in Antaran government. During the March 2110 interdiction operations, the VI Battalion was part of a similar action in the Abecean Ocean in which the Navy was cracking down hard on piracy plaguing Odessan merchant ships in the area. Greyhame suffered injuries from grenade shrapnel during a boarding action while part of the operations.

In October of 2110, however, the battalion was sent alongside the Fifth to Kelshvir. The civil war had ignited on a severe level and Antaran military units were being sent in to contain the damage and protect the State territory of Marcal. He was at the Battle of Ton Falk and the Battle of Regdio, injuries from artillery blasts and lost his hearing briefly in both ears during a bombardment on the final days of Regdio. He was decorated for his wounds and also recognized for his bravery.

After he returned from Kelshvir in late February 2111, Greyhame returned to Bartolomeo Fortress, and spent a great deal of time alongside his fellow aristocrats in advance studies for his M.S. degree, which he earned in late 2111. He was officially made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the White Lion on 7 September 2111 alongside others like Tirion Fordring. His service also saw the addition of the other degrees to his Order of the Knight's Cross. He would finally depart active service on 15 November 2111 after two years and three months of service, with the rank of First Lieutenant.

Greyhame married his girlfriend Kyra Toulani, the younger sister of Toulani Institute chairman Lennox Toulani, on 15 September 2110. It would not be long thereafter that Lady Greyhame would not see her husband again until May of the following year, due to active duty. The couple currently has three sons.

General Minister

Having served in the General Ministry and on the staff of Militin Lord Takel, his predecessor during the tenure of Cassio Lord Belesarious, he was one of the top recommendations made by Talon Lord Durla to Rayden Lord Belesarious when the younger Belesarious ascended to the Praetorian Throne. After interviewing personally with the young new Praetor, he was one of the three final name selected.

Ultimately, his selection to the post of General Minister was considered almost guaranteed among State insiders, as he has a combination of dry wit and firm authority to his personality that the young new Praetor found appealing. As such, his appointment came on 10 July 2113. He has served this post since.

Greyhame has built a reputation for being mercurial and obscure while simultaneously being known for being strict and demanding but fair. Because of the unique status of the General Ministry, his capacity to influence critical events is considerable. His immense power is tempered by his very close friendship with the Praetor and the loyalty he holds for the man and the trust and camraderie the two share. The two men have known each other for many years and served together in Kelshvir.

As General Minister, Greyhame sees a variety of interests seeking his blessing for particular business arrangements when they are of a specific nature that require State approval. He never accepts invitations for meals or shows or the like, and always refuses gifts or such, and everyone knows to never even appear to be attempting to bribe or influence him. He has harshly punished more than one businessman who attempted to influence him. Nevertheless, the Antaran business community respects and admires his strictness and his methods.
