Moluccian Society

The Moluccian Society is a pseudoscientific group promoting interest in and research about the fabled "Lost Continent of Moluccia". The Society verges on respectable in the realm of historical research, ferreting out obscure references to (among other fantastic subjects) Moluccia, mer-men, global cataclysms, and "vanished" technology. The reputed existence of a wooden-hulled submarine powered by springs and compressed air some thousand years ago is a current favorite subject, having spawned novels, movies, a radio drama, and a line of motorcars. "Tubular styling" is quite the rage on some Auroran highways in the 21-teens.

Despite concerted effort, the Society's requests for membership in the International Naval Sciences League have been repeatedly denied. This results in some friction between the two organizations, not to mention among some people in the scientific community who may be members of one or the other organizations. Though in recent years, the National Society of Auroran Studies which is located in North Shurkan Union has entertained the idea helping with research in this "Lost Continent of Molccia" because of recent archeoligical finds near the North Shurkan City of Shurkiania which backs up the story but to a more realistic extent, no mer-men or strange ferreting out obscure references to (among other fantastic subjects) Moluccia. The main reason for this move is because of the so called "vanished" technology that members of the Sebaev Teivan think that would benifit humankind. To many of organizations, this was a bold move.
