Foreign Relations of Antara
Foreign relations are a key element in the policies of Antara. Antara sees itself as a key player on the world stage. The Dominion has long been a world player, continuing the influences of the Empire which preceded it.
Antara speaks of global balance, and is not unwilling to aid fellow nations by acting as an arbitrater when needed. In some drastic situations, military action may be justified. This is not used as foolishly or frequently as some nations may believe, but the option is there if the Praetor feels he needs it. Alternatively, ruling Praetor Rayden Belesarious is cunningly manipulative of foreign matters if it will serve some purpose that, typically, only he is aware of.
The Adeptus Antara and the Praetor in particular are aware of the fondness some nations may have for trying to play them off of other key nations around the world, but Antara simply employs patient diplomacy to deal with such troubles.

Catai
Average Antaran - In terms of one's historical education, every Antaran knows that the Golden Lion and the Scarlet Dragon have been close friends for many centuries. To them, the lands of Catai are lands of ancient splendor and rich heritage, posessed of many beautiful natural assets which draw Antaran tourists in large numbers annually.
The Praetor's Thoughts - At present, Chairman Mao Enlai is one of the only high foreign officials to have met with Praetor Rayden Belesarious. The Praetor sees Mao as a good friend and ally, and the two correspond regularly. Rayden is also close to Enlai because of his close relationship with his late grandfather, and the high praise that Cassio had for the Chairman.
Official Viewpoint - The Dominion and Commonwealth have in recent years strengthened their economic ties, as business from the two nations flows freely back and forth. Some nations look upon Catai as a proxy of Antara, a fact that is both amusing and useful to the State in its regional affairs. Catai holds Most Favored status with the Dominion.
Deria
Average Antaran - To the common citizen, Deria is a land of loose morals and weak principles all in the name of absolute democratic freedom. Cultural mores seem lax and poorly taught to children, and it is for this reason most Antarans say Deria will likely suffer a culture collapse if it is not careful. Antarans equally find Derian worship of "the Lady" - which they view as a concocted deity created in the mind of a single heretic priest - to be both insulting and in very poor taste.
The Praetor's Thoughts - The Praetor finds the "polar opposites" policy of Deria towards nations like Antara to be childish and somewhat tiresome. He sees no real use in the Derian nation, as they have never shown any interest in meaningful discource or interaction because of their pathological distruct of authoritarian nations such as Antara. However, beyond his feelings for their preferred methods of interacting, the Praetor could care less what the Derian people - or the Derian government, for that matter - think of him.
Official Viewpoint - Antara maintains basic diplomatic relations with Deria, and little else beyond that.
Etruria
Average Antaran - The history between the Golden Lion and the Wolf is rich and deep. Centuries of relations of a wide variety have produced one of the most unique opinions in the world towards the Etrurian people. The Antarans view them as cousins of a sort, despite the Antaran viewpoint towards foreigners. The recent confrontation in Southern Danetia, however, has chilled public opinion towards the nation to the south, and many view this sudden, extreme shift in the Etrurian leadership's opinion as both illogical and insulting.
The Praetor's Thoughts - Since the ascension of Imperator Tiberius Rex Augusti to power, the relationship between the Praetor and the Etrurian leadership has changed dramatically. What was warm friendship has transitioned into ice-cold confrontationalism and increasing bluster from the Dominion's southern neighbor. Nobody outside of the Inner Circle knows the Praetor's feelings or thoughts on this new leadership. It remains to be seen how the Praetor intends to handle this shift.
Official Viewpoint - The Dominion views Etruria as a brother nation in many ways, as the people of it mirror Antara in many respects, and vice versa. Etruria is a trading partner of the Dominion. The two nations have extensive trade arrangements and are tied together in several research and commercial ventures. Since the conflict in Southern Danetia, however, the State has fallen forbodingly silent towards Etruria.
However, with the recent change of administration in Etruria, the Antaran State has become increasingly frustrated with the confrontational attitude of its new leadership when Antara has done nothing to antagonize its southern neighbor. As a result, Antara-Etruria relations have been damaged, though it is too early to tell just how badly. The State continues to watch to see just how far the new Imperator is going to try to push. Some are worried what may happen if he pushes to far. Hopes are that that will never happen.
Fernandina
Average Antaran - The Fernandinians are, like the Pravnicks, trapped in the vise grip of Communalism and that is a sad loss, in the mind of Antarans. While gifted with rich resources and beautiful environs, the lands are closed to their travel largely.
The Praetor's Thoughts - Only the members of the Circle of Twelve and a select few others may discuss Fernandina with the Praetor. He is of a very dark opinion regarding the double-take of Curro towards the treaty settling the Anahuac matter, and as such the silence of Cedelphia towards them is reflective of his mood towards them. Privately, Praetor Belesarious directed that the State bid on Las Palmas, though his reasons are not known to those few aware of his bidding.
Official Viewpoint - With the recent tensions between Odessa, the Torentine Empire, and Pravnicka over the accusation of Torentine imperialism towards Fernandina, Antara has fallen silent on the matter. Ominously silent, according to some. The State has little interest in the Communalist nation. There are rumors that the State was one of the top three bidders for the Las Palmas offer. The Antaran Foreign Ministry recently mediated a settlement between Torentine and Fernandina, but the silence from Cedelphia has not lifted. Rumors Fernandina may attempt to "re-work" the treaty recognizing Anahuac has drawn a much closer scrutiny from Cedelphia.

Kantonia
Average Antaran - Kantonia is a warm nation with a great deal to offer the world. Perhaps they will continue to reach out and make friends with the world and everyone will have the chance to benefit from it?
The Praetor's Thoughts - The Praetor sees a positive relationship with both Catai and Kantonia as ideal.
Official Viewpoint - Antara has relaxed its views on Kantonia recently, most notably with the polio vaccine shipments and overtures for increased trade. Travel restrictions have been raised. The State Department of Disease Control has recently sent teams to the nation to help with bringing medical care to its poorest and aid in the polio distribution.

The Praetor's Thoughts -

Antara has had relations with Lindossë for a long time, as the nation was once part of Imperial Antaran colonization of southern Miotus. Today, the two nations maintain amicable relations and are healthy trade partners.
Maloumba
Average Antaran -
The Praetor's Thoughts -
Official Viewpoint -
Antara has maintained diplomatic relations with Maloumba for a very long time. The two were once world-spanning empires, and as such have had contact with one another for some time.
Culturally, the Antarans look disapprovingly upon the matriarchal nature of the nation, but see relations with the country as important for State interests in the region.

The Dominion has for some time now kept its eye on the democritazation efforts in Monota. The DiploCorps maintains a presence there, despite the opinions of some that the nation has nothing to offer. Those voicing said opinion are silent in the Praetor's presence.

North Shurkan Union
Average Antaran - The NSU is a land of many facets, many types of people, all joined under one banner. They have a great deal going for them, though their leadership's efforts to apparently standardize every facet of their lives and living does drain some of the uniqueness out of the Shurkan experience.
The Praetor's Thoughts - The Praetor does not talk with anyone outside of his Inner Circle about the NSU. This has become increasingly obvious in recent months.
Official Viewpoint - The State maintains considerable trade ties with the NSU, and trade between the nations is very robust and healthy. Antara has cooperated on some medium-level military technology, or worked side-by-side with North Shurkans in designing new units for both nations such as the IB-59 Boreas and the B-37 Trident to replace older equipment in both air forces. There is also a healthy market for industrial equipment and industrial services in the nation. Greater ties between the two are in the works. As of yet, the Foreign Ministry has released no information regarding these efforts.
War of 2120 - It is unknown what effect the NSU support of Etruria during the War of 2120 may have on Antara-NSU relations, but it is no secret that the Praetor was angered by their open support of the Dominion's southern neighbor.

Odessa
Average Antaran - To the average Antaran, the Plenary Republic is both a place good for an enjoyable holiday trip and a place that can be both confusing and polarizing. The general public finds Odessa's sale of weapons to whoever, wherever somewhat foolish.
The Praetor's Thoughts - Praetor Rayden Belesarious has a knowing eye set on the Plenary Republic. His weariness in tolerating their paranoia is whispered of in State circles. Alternatively, though, there are rumors circulating that he is considering taking a gentler approach, in an effort to soften tensions. What effect Odessa's supply of arms to Etruria during the War of 2120 may have on this effort is yet to be seen.
Official Viewpoint - Antara looks upon Odessa with mixed feelings. The Dominion does not feel threatened by the Plenary Republic in a military or political sense, but views the nation's willingness to pursue its own interests at the cost of virtually everything else as cause for some concern.
Pravnicka
Average Antaran - The Antaran people see Pravnicka as a nation that deserves better than Communalism, but know that little will change that system anytime soon. They feel the people are unduly pressured, and know that they have had too long to ingrain the political philosophy into new generations to change it easily.
The Praetor's Thoughts - To those who know him, the very private Praetor will often darken at mention of Martin Paval, the leader of Pravnicka. He finds it inconvenient that such a man would lead a nation. He knows he is a crafty man, though, and some whisper that his pervasive contacts maintain constant watch over the activities of both men.
Official Viewpoint - The State has a very jaded outlook on Pravnicka, as distrust of Communalism is very present in Antaran society. The State maintains regular but limited standard diplomatic contact. The Dominion will not permit Pravnick goods sold in its markets, and will not allow its goods sold to that country or any known factor of it.
The State has come to disregard many tirades the Communalist state releases on its activities, and even looks with thinly-veiled amusement upon the Commonwealth's branding of Antara as the "Evil Empire". The State and people of Antara see the persistent paranoia of the Commonwealth's leadership towards anything and everything Danetian, especially Antaran, Etrurian, or Torentinian, as illogical.
Martin Paval, the leader of Pravnicka, has become a popular butt for numerous Antaran jokes and insults.

Since the Communalist revolution swept the island nation, Antara has maintained contact but has yet to formally soldify a new policy. Formal contact with the nation's new leadership has, thus far, been limited. Praetor Belesarious, however, has been vocal in his criticsm of contacts in Sinoptikon between the Communalist insurgency there and Mako.
Sam'thuma
Average Antaran -
The Praetor's Thoughts -
Official Viewpoint -
The nation of Sam'thuma is a beautiful, lush nation and one of the Dominion's immediate neighbors. Even during the days of the Empire, Antara left the nation alone, finding it more economically worthwhile to trade goods with them and offer them naval protection than conquer the land.
Today, Antara and Sam'thuma have amicable relations, and the engineering skills of the Dominion's finest are helping the nation to expand and improve its public services and infrastructure. The nation is also a preferred energy customer of the Dominion.
Sam'thuma holds Most Favored status with the Dominion.
Sjertiva
Average Antaran - Few Antarans pretend to understand the odd arrangement of national affairs in Sjertiva, and they tend to wonder if the insanity of the nation's Kral is a hereditary thing.
The Praetor's Thoughts - Belesarious considers the reigning Kral, Terje Koimtevi IV, an unstable and overly emotional man. He watches the Sjertivan leader's antics with veiled amusement. Despite being dangerous and unpredictible, Belesarious doesn't consider Komitevi a threat in any sense of the word. The word of the Kral's "celebration" of the Praetor's 28th birthday on 4 March 2119 was said to have "elicited a raised eyebrow, and nothing more". Having been told that the Kral despised him, the Praetor replied, "I can't possibly imagine why that poor, small man would despise someone he knows nothing about...yet another sign he has problems."
Official Viewpoint - The Antaran Dominion maintains diplomatic relations with Sjertiva, but does not extend any further energies beyond the general amenities. The Dominion has little to no use for the nation whatsoever.

Torentine Empire
Average Antaran - Most especially from a historical perspective, the average Antaran knows that Torentine was once a key colonial holding of the Second Antaran Empire. Now, in modern times, they see the Torentinians as friends and allies. The Empire is a favorite tourist destination for Antarans traveling abroad.
The Praetor's Thoughts - During the tumultuous reign of Gerta I, the Praetor refused to meet with the Empress. He saw her as overly emotional, excessively impatient, and at times insufferably rude. It was on his orders that the military assistence treaty was suspended following several of her most outrageous actions, and he did not reinstate this treaty until after the instillation of Gallus II as Emperor. To Belesarious, Gallus is a good friend and a good man. Though the two have only met shortly on a handful of occasions, an increase in contact between the two men has been noticed.
Official Viewpoint - Of late the two nations have expanded their trade agreements and have also engaged in a cooperative treaty to restructure and modernize the Torentine armed forces. Suspended during the last six months of Gerta I's reign, the treaty was reinstated in full force after the ascension of Emperor Gallus. The Empire and the Dominion maintain extensive commerce and the Torentine Empire holds Most Favored status with the Dominion.
