Deria, officially the Independent Republic of Deria, is a nation in the northwestern region of the continent of Danetia in the region of Idreia, covering an area of 989,351 km². It shares borders with (clockwise from north to south): the Caladani Reich, Territory 40, Antara, Territory unnamed, Territory unnamed, and the Torentine Empire.
Deria is the world's largest democracy with a Freedom index above 8.0 and the second largest democracy in economy size behind the Kingdom of Norya.
Deria has a strong economic base in agriculture and lumber, and its textile industry is known world-wide. The lands of Deria are also rich with fertile soil, large forests, and large mineral deposits in the Efferus mountains. Deria is the leading agricultural power of Danetia due to the fertile lands around the Great Lakes. Due to abundant crops and Derian trade policies, this nation is the Danetia's largest exporter of agricultural products. Other main industries include textiles, pulp and paper products, automobile manufacture, chemicals, arms manufacture, and fishing.

Conservative Era (2103-Present)
The years after 2103 have been seen as a shift in Derian politics which arose from the aftermath of the Hidran War. The years before the rise of conservatism were marked for its instability and political unrest because of previous events during the reconstruction after the devastating Hidran War (Despite its victory in the war). In this time of political unrest and instability, conservatives were able to rise to power and display calm and a strong sense of leadership that allowed Robert Bickhardt to be elected president of the Independent Republic of Deria.
The Years of the Bickhardt Administration (2103-2111)
In 2103, conservative Robert Bickhardt was elected President of the Independent Republic of Deria. With his election, Deria's political center shifted to the right, away from its former social democratic ways that molded Deria for the past 82 years. Many changes were seen as Bickhardt "pile-drived" through the National Assembly and Senate to get bills passed. Often called progressive, Robert Bickhardt's years as President were defined by economic, political, social, and moral reforms. Purification of politics was a main goal of President Bickhardt, and because of this, one of his main goals was to expose and undercut political machines and bosses.
In his years, he maintained a strong popularity rating due to the many benefits he brought to the people of Deria and because of his purification of the Derian political system. Because of his popularity, he was able to be elected a second term.
The Years of the Woodward Administration (2111-2119)
The years of the Woodward Administration were mainly known for its improvement in public relation's with the government and citizens and for the government's increase on spending. Henry Woodward, while in office, viewing Deria as being surrounded by non-free, militaristic nations, Woodward and his administration sought to protect freedom of the free world. In seeing the threats towards Deria and its people, Woodward passed bills that allowed increased spending on the military to place it as a formable opponent to attackers.
The years of the Woodward administration were defined by military expansion, isolationism, and resisting the Antaran-block authoritarian hegemony.
As of 2119
As of 2119, the nation of Deria is seeing the establishment of a new administration as Henry Woodward's years of being the President close. The elections for President after Woodward were close and were well seen as an a turning point of Deria's view of the world. The main focus points of the elections were, the future of Deria in Aurora and cooperating with other democratic nations (Membership of AFNA was mentioned by Grace Dent). Also another point of interest was the spread of authoritarian and communalist ideals in Aurora, one point of interest that has always been a major position in previous elections. In the end of the elections, the polls favored Senator Dent who became the 37th president of Deria.
With Grace Dent in office, relations with Norya have been further strengthened, and the government has eliminated most of its isolationist international policies (Save for the ones barring trade and relations with authoritarian nations) and trade with other free nations has greatly increased. As Dent is an outspoken Marianist, religious belief has seen a new revival in Derian cities, even moreso than with previous president Woodward.
Government
Being founded on democratic principles and ideas, Deria remains true to its original ideals, adapting by occasional Constitutional Assemblies. The government relies on the citizen along with their statesman they elected to participate in national affairs.
- Legislative: The bicameral Congress, made up of the Senate and the National Assembly, makes federal law, declares war, approves treaties, has the power of the purse, and has the power of impeachment, by which it can remove sitting members of the government.
The Senate is made up of 75 senators and are the upper house within Congress. Senators are selected by state legislatures and serve staggered 6 year terms. The National Assembly is the lower house and is made up of 356 represenatives, the National Assembly does not have a fixed size, but each province is allotted one representative for every 200,000 people. The size is readjusted after each census.
- Executive: The president is the commander-in-chief of the military, can veto legislative bills before they become law, and appoints the Cabinet and other officers, who administer and enforce federal laws and policies.
- Judicial: The Supreme Court and lower federal courts, whose judges are appointed by the president with Senate approval, interpret laws and overturn those they find unconstitutional.
Political Divisions
The Independent Republic of Deria is split into 14 sub-national political entitie, or States and one semi-autonomous region. Historically the States can closely resemble the history of Deria and its ethnic make-up. States, based on historic homes and lands, or former kingdoms giving States a sense of unity and common history. With Idreia as ethnically diverse and with the climate changes that drove people up and down Danetia.

Deria, because of its location in the northwestern Danetia in the region named Idreia, it itself is very diverse ethnically and culturally. Over thousands of years of mass migrations, result from the climate shifts caused by a wobble in the planet's axis. These migrations have caused many groups of people trying to survive and to find homes. With this, the continent of Danetia was restless. Over years of ice age and global heating, many ethnic groups have passed through the region which is now known as Deria, eventually settling the lands and forming systems of government to forming empires and eventually (within the last 100 years) uniting.

Deria's defense is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense, a civilian body which oversees the maintenance and activities of the Derian Defense Forces. The Defense Minister, who is advised by the General Staff (made up of the senior commanders from the Derian Ground, Maritime, and Aerospace Commands), reports directly to the President and briefs the both houses of Congress, either separately or in a joint house meeting.
