Chairman of the North Shurkan Union

The Chairman of the North Shurkan Union, or better known as the Chairman of the Union is the head of state and head of government of the North Shurkan Union and is the highest political official in North Shurkan Union by influence and recognition. The Chairman is at the head of the executive branch of the government; his or her role is to enforce national law as given in the system of treaties that govern the Union. The Chairman holds almost all executive power along with the Ovo Teivan. He or she is assisted by the seven members of the Ovo Teivan. The current Chairman is Sevaris Valkemi.

History

The history of the position along with the North Shurkan Union is fairly young but the position itself has affected the political community of Shurku for the past 40 years.

Sevaris Valkemi is the third person to hold the position in the North Shurkan Union after Fultyr Tarevi and the founder of the North Shurkan Union, Pyotr Haeverst.

Roles and Responsibilities

Representing the Union as the Chairman is a prestigious but daunting task. The choices and the decisions made by the Chairman affect people all over North Shurku.

Appointing a new Chairman can be a long process because of the nature of politics in the North Shurkan Union. He or she is chosen by the Sebeav Teivan out of the Ovo Teivan along with being accepted by the Sebaev Teivan.
