Social Progress Party (Zophos)

The Social Progress Party of Zophos, or SPP, is one of the major political parties in Zophos. It has won a plurality of seats in parliament in most of the elections since independence in 2094. Due to the proportional representation system used in the Zophosian parliament, the SPP has usually required support from smaller parties such as the Zophos Communalist Front (ZCF) to govern. In the election of 2111, the SPP formed the second largest party in parliament, being exceeded only by the governing United Democratic Party (UDP).

Before independence, the SPP of Zophos was a provincial division of the Social Progress Party of Lindossë.

The SPP is a left-of-centre party that advocates heavy government intervention in the economy and other aspects of life. It regards itself as the vanguard of progress in Zophos. While in government, it has been responsible for the nationalization of all major aspects of the rubber industry, laws favouring labour unions, and the mandatory integration of independent and religious schools into the public school system.
