One of the actual royally-chartered merchandise companies of the Kingdom, Royal Sam'thuma sells tea locally and exports Aurorawide. Company plantations are small, limited to test-growing of new varieties and the use of new horticultural methods. The bulk of RS tea comes from twenty-six major growers and over a thousand minor ones.

Tea connoisseurs within the Kingdom do not even always prefer Sam'thuma tea. What is foreign is exotic. The best local tea of course never makes it to the export market, but dozens of its hundred-plus blends are well-enjoyed in Tea Shops worldwide.

The imperialism of neighboring Antara runs more to commerce than territory when it comes to Sam'thuma. Several times Antarans have tried to obtain a monopoly on Sam'thuman tea -- even to the point of trying to buy the whole RS company. All such attempts have failed, just due to the wild multiplicity of growers and the lack of central control. RS itself is no monopoly - it has the largest share of Sam'thuman tea sales, but there are many other suppliers. Notable among these are the Namthaste Tea Cooperative, Becontedunisveritwet (rendered approximately "Tea Growers of the Plateau" in Inglis), and Tonu Ghobay Agricultural (sold under "ATG Tea" abroad).

Headquartered in 662, Nanthaste, the company has production and shipping offices across all four highland principalities. Principal export offices are in Ghambet, Nanthaste; in Melassakos, Nelaythar; and in 395, Onguthar.

RSTC novelty: normal cakes or puerh tea are discs like on right. Royal Sam'thuma also produces rooster-shaped cakes at a premium price for the Nam royal family (and anyone else with the cash). These have an amazingly big market outside Samjopalthuma, to the amusement and profit of those who produce them. House Nam uses them as gifts for visiting dignitaries.
