General

The Karsos Army, is responsible for army operations within the Karsos Military. The current size of the army is ##,### regular soldiers and ##,### militia soldiers, for a total of around ##,###.

The Karsos Army maintains regular forces units at bases across Karsos and is also responsible for the largest component of Reserveists, the Militia. The Command General of the Karsos Army is Commander General Ross Rose (DC, LSGC, OOMM, OKOR).

The Karsos Army was born out of the all-volunteer rebel forces which formed during the War of Independence. It has since developed through several iterations to its present form. The Karsos Army maintains some of its revolutionary heritage specifically its loosely defined rank structure that relies on positional appointments to achieve a multi-tiered leadership structure.

Structure

The Karsos Army is not an independent service; rather it is the land component of Karsos' integrated defence forces known as the Karsos Military; as such its proper name is Army Command (AC).

AC is commanded from Army Headquarters at National Military Command Complex NMCC and is subdivided into four regional command areas:

  • Sector Northwest
  • Sector Northeast
  • Central Sector
  • Sector South

Each sector is responsible for the regular army and militia forces located within its geographical purview - all have a regular army brigade group under their command, together with between two and three militia brigades.

The main functional divisions within the Karsos Army structure are the Unit, the Battlegroup and the Brigade. Each of the 4 numbered Brigades is further broken into to 3 Battlegroups, each of which is capable of independent operations.

The Brigades and Battlegroups are composed of a number and variety of units, for further information including detailed descriptions of sub-unit formations see the Brigade Headquarters, Mechanized Battlegroup or Light Battlegroup orders of battle.

The Karsos Army HQ is located within the NMCC in the Richard Hardy Building. The building houses the Land Force Command Center as well as the staff elements of the departments and directorates of the Karsos Army.

The Richard Hardy Building (also known as Building #2) was the second to be completed within NMCC and was formally opened in 2039. Quite different from most military buildings the Richard Hardy Building, and indeed most of the NMCC make extensive use of glass (reinforced) and steel to provide a pleasant working environment. Security and Isolation areas are located underground.
