F.A.Q.
Joining Aurora
- Who can join Aurora?
- Anyone can join Aurora if they can administer a website and are willing to follow the rules of the game.
- What do I need to join?
- A webspace, something to author your site, and an FTP program to upload your site. Actually, now you can place your nation's website entirely in the wiki, so you don't have to build your own site. Though it's fun and rewarding to do so :-).... Even flags can be done in the simplest of graphics programs. So about all you need is a browser, an internet connection, an imagination, and some time.
- Does it cost anything to play Aurora?
- Not a thing. If the hosting costs get too much I might ask for donations, but they would only be for hosting cost, and would be voluntary. But this probably won't happen.
- Is there an age restriction?
- No. Aurora is teen-friendly. Those younger may not be suitable for the nature of the
game, but this is a generalization. Aurora should be considered PG-13 because of the
nature of international politics. Cursing and "adult" situations are only for in-game
situations, and abuse will lead to expulsion. If you're a minor, it might be a good idea to let your parents
know what's going on here, so that they know the type of adults that you're in contact with.
There is definitely no upper limit on age - we welcome the life experience that comes with several decades of the real world.
Participation
- How much do I need to participate?
- At a minimum, we should hear from you at least once every 90 days... but when the map fills up, this may change. The more you participate, the better. Do keep it short of an obsession - we don't like drop-out, but neither do we want burn-out.
- How do we participate?
- Technically, the most common ways are email and the discussion board, and the wiki. In-game, nations interact the same way they do in the real world. Check out the board and you'll see what I mean.
- Ask something else...
- If we hear it often enough, it'll get put here.
