The Venator missile is a cruise missile used by the armed forces of Valania. It was introduced in 1536, and is rumoured to be one of the most advanced missiles in the world. Originally, it was designed to have three multiple independently targetable shortrange secondary warheads (with the unfortunate acronym MISS), but following several serious accidents during testing (notably one in which a stray MISS struck a Schwerdtan town) they were apparently removed. However, in December 1536 they were returned, after an extensive redesign by the Military Corps of Engineers.

The Venator missile is the only cruise missile in the world to incorporate MISSes. Their security was protected even after the testing accident near Schwerdt. Upon being asked what was wrong, the observer replied "It's a MISS...", unaware that communications were being intercepted by Schwerdtan operatives. The existance of MISSes was finally revealed upon the official unveiling of the Venator itself.
