One of the larger ethnic communities in Linberg, Valano-Kassaters - Kassaters of partly Valanian descent - are overwhelmingly concentrated in the Linberg borough of Sint Urbaan. More then 150 years after the immigration of their ancestors to Kassaten, many of them are still tightly connected to Valania through culture and language. This caused the neighbourhood to be coloquially known as 'Little Valania'.

Immigration

In the late 1300's, emperor Antonius of Valania initiated a religious purge in Valania, aimed at churchmen he claimed to be 'corrupt'. This resulted in a wave of emigration. Many Valanians found their way to Linberg, where they were permitted to settle in the small city of Sint Urbaan. Out of their union with local Kassaters, the current population of Valano-Kassaters arose.

Tensions with other groups

Traditionally the relation between Linberg Valanians and Stadters (Iudeans of Schwerdtan descent) has been strained, partly due to economic competition. After a (officially accidental) Valanian missile strike on Schwerdt in 1535, these tensions became even more problematic, resulting in several ethnic clashes within the city of Linberg.
