Stadters
From Scandia
Stadters is the Kassatic name for the Iudean Schwerdtans living (mainly) in Linberg, where they form one of the city's most prominent ethnic minorities. The term is derived from Teuvian Städters ('City Folk') and probably refers to Kapitalstadt, where the majority of this people originally lived. Stadter stores, restaurants, synagogues, schools, newspapers and magazines, and even a separate university ensure the visibility of this group.
Immigration
After the independence of Civitas (Now the Social Republic of Schwerdt) in 1499, the country entered a period of great political and economic troubles (see History of Schwerdt), culminating in the Great Börse Crash of 1511. Iudeans were often scapegoated for the troubles, and discrimination against them reached high levels in this time. As a result, many Iudean families chose to leave the country. The Kassatic metropole of Linberg, traditionally open to immigrants and with a considerable Iudean minority of its own, appeared as a sensible destination to many of them.
