History of Sahraoui

Previously known as Elmira, this land was taken by the now king of Sahraoui, named Manny Ius I. As soon as Manny Ius I declared himself king in June, 1540, he also declared that his country, given time and participation from his people, would become a republic, hence the name République de Sahraoui (république being the Loirisean name for republic). But first, he had to educate his people, to make them vote a constitution and the vote for a president. In order to do so, he had his own people to educate the Sahraouis, but he also asked other countries around his to help him. Presently, the teachers have yet to come, and Manny Ius I and his friends and family have started teaching people how to read and how to educate their children.

The present Constitution was voted on the 14th of July referendum, voted at 85%. The first presidential election was held on the 27th of July 1540, and the results were the following :

- Manny Ius : 82,78% (SSP, Sahraoui Social Party)

- Anya Tréolet : 8,22% (MSP, Moderate Sahraoui Party)

- Michelle Mitradoux : 7,65% (CSP, Communist Sahraoui Party)

- Yves Fautrel : 1,35 % (NSP, Nationalist Sahraoui Party)

Ancient History - The land before the republic

History of the land known as Elmira remained obscure for a few weeks, until the king and his men found some archives, in a stronghold in the heart of the grasslands. Here is given what was found. Centuries ago, Elmira was a peaceful country, where most of daylife was just agriculture. As the land was rich and had several type of climates (tropical, grasslands and oceanic), agriculture was thriving and crops were various. The country remained untouched for several hundreds of years. But one day, conquerors from the Valania empire came and they took hold of the land. Fortunately, as Elmirans did not really care being under the domination of another country, they did not fight, so that the land remained unscathed. People from the wildest parts of Elmira, along the southern border with Labella, though decided to leave this land because they did not accept the conquest, but nor could they do anything about it. So they went away on boats, and headed for a country they would like better. They seemingly landed in the land of Haromszek, where people speaking Loirisian can be found (Loirisian is a particular spelling, maybe coming from the mixing between Elmiran southerners and Labellans). That was not the majority of Elmirans, though. As agriculture got on being prospere, and the people being peaceful, Valanians did not change anything to it, except for a half dozen strongholds here or there. However, when Valania Empire began to disappear, Valanians changed the land a bit. Indeed, for fear of being one day under attack by one of their neighbors, they decided to weaken them. In order to do so, they created two different countries on the land of Elmira : Elmira and Lacrosse-Michardie. That is the reason why the peoples living in those two countries are so close, and speak the same language, but are separated. In fact, this did not change a lot of things to life in Elmira, and the same kind of agriculture, of non-violent behaviors, of unity, of mutual help remained untouched. Finally, in 1540, one man, Manny Ius I, and the most educated Elmirans, taught in Labella about politics and organization, decided to add a bit of politics in the country, turning it into a republic, in which people would be able to express their wishes, to have an easier life - as, for Manny Ius I, a welfare republic comes with education and thus, with improvement in techniques, especially in agriculture or health - and the same rights as everybody. But this man did not want to throw the country into confusion. Thus, he decided to keep, at least for a time, the system of bartering, and of rural life. He decided to proceed this way : first, to educate adults - teaching them how to read and write - so they can help educate their children. Then, educate children, in a more precise way than they would with adults : about the system of money, techniques to improve agriculture and herding, principles of a republic, geography, history, in life in society, and all that sort of things. He chose to name himself king for at time, in order for his work to be recognized by other countries of Scandia, and to prepare his people having someone looking over them.

Climate

Situated along the shore of the Ingallian Ocean, and next to the equator, la république de Sahraoui has a fair climate. Along the border it shares with Labella, it is almost a tropical climate, with dense forests and a hot and humid atmosphere. From the east coast to the west border with Lacrosse Michardie, are grasslands. This part is the largest one. Then, along the northwestern shores, the climate is almost an oceanic one, with hot summers and cool winters, heated by the streams.
