Port Zîrkæ
From Scandia
Port Zîrkæ is the largest city in Zîrkæ located on the north coast in Könürmôn province. The city which has 2,300,000 inhabitants is also the provincial capital. The city is considered to be the ugliest, smelliest, most depressing and grayest place in the entire country.
The city is home to Zîrkæ's largest seaport and steel works. The city generates about 60% of the national accumulated industry turnover. Most money however, flows to Komsomol or Blêt, where all corporate headquarters are located.
Although an expat moving to the RPZ would probably not pick Port Zîrkæ as the place to settle, the inhabitants are very proud of their city and feel superior to the "Komsomol pen-pushers". In turn, the people of Port Zîrkæ are regarded as ill-mannered and rude.
The city houses exellent public transport and has a large (international) airport. An on the hour service to Komsomol is offered by the NÆM (Nâzônæl Ærônæmül Mætçgâpÿ). Regular flights as well as various high-speed train services connect the city with the rest of the country.
Government institutions are also located within the city, like the provincial government and the National Industry Board. Home of the Port Zîrkæ Technical University, the city is well known for the best engineers and scientists on the Niverian continent.
In recent years, the national government invested in the urban environment thus making the city somewhat more barable than before. Despite the measures pollution levels are still unhealthy high, the highest in the country.
Tourists wishing to visit Port Zîrkæ should collect information elsewhere, as there is no tourist office. It is advisible not to visit the city in summer, as smog levels go sky-high when temperatures reach 18 °C, causing serious health risks . Best time to visit is early October, when east winds blow most pollution out to sea. Informations and signs are in Zîrkænian only. People with asthma, heart condition, gout, bronchitis, migraine, dust allergy or cold influenza are not advised to visit the city at all.
