Monarchy
From Scandia
Monarchy can be a general term for any governance by a hereditary or selected nobility, whether the leader is king or queen, emperor or duke, sultan or chieftan. Theocracies and military dictatorships may differ from monarchies in name only, as such heads of state may exhibit every characteristic of a monarch.
Properly, "the monarchy" refers not just to the top person, but also their whole dynasty, family, or system.
