The Socialist Liberation Forces of Mordeskai, or SLFM, are the military of the Socialist Republic Of Mordeskai. It was founded in the year 557 by Pyotr Malinsky, Silas' then strategist and general, who played a major role in the defense of the survivors in the early days of the nation.

The current Commander-In-Chief is the Premier of Mordeskai, Ilya Vladmirovich Donetsk. The branches of the SLFM currently are the Ground Forces, the Air Forces (Also consisting of the Air Defence Force and Rocket Corps.), the Navy, and the respective special operations divisions that work within the main forces.

History

557-1331

The Ground Forces of Mordeskai (Known to the rest of the world as The Mordan Army)are the oldest branch of the SLFM. It was originally known as the Grand Army of Mordeskai, and it's general was none other than Malinsky himself. It retained this name and leadership structure well after Malinsky's death in 579. The army's first real conflicts (Discounting policing citizenry) were border clashes with the Vamarians in the 800s (Exact dates of battles are not known, as early Mordan history is not well documented, especially in the Era of the Gerghaas. Relics discovered in the mountains may prove that there were battles, however.). The numerous technological developments in the 1000's did not immediately reach Mordeskai, but weaponry recovered from Vamarian soldiers in the numerous border conflicts of this era were quickly researched and reverse-engineered. By the late 1200's, the conflicts with the Vamarians had mellowed out, and despite no diplomatic visits from either side, Mordeskai and Vamar reached an uneasy peace. The Royal Army subsequently dwindled in this era. Despite this, Mordan scientists managed to place the latest weapons in the hands of the few troops in the Army. The soldiers of this era, as few as they were, were equipped with the latest flintlock weapons of the era, and the artillery corps with the most powerful field pieces. As economic tensions between the once-warring nations of Mordeskai reached the boiling point in 1330, recruitment exploded, as eager and patriotic young Mordans signed up, with hopes that another war would let them wage war against the hated nation to the east, which as they had been taught since they were young, sought to eventually conquer their nation. The explosion of nationalism and recruitment bolstered the once-shrinking armies of Mordeskai. War exploded immediately after the Vamarians rejected the Mordan government's ultimatum. Forces marched over the mountains, making early advances and meeting little resistance. After gaining little more than 10 miles of Vamarian ground, the Vamarian forces swiftly counterattacked, forcing the Mordans back into the foothills. After several bloody standoffs, and massive casualties on both sides, a ceasefire was signed, and the battered and broken Grand Army marched sullenly back home; battered, broken, and hoping inside to eventually avenge their fallen comrades.

1332-1435

After this short war with Vamar, the Mordan army served little purpose aside from small regional police actions (And being a massive display of power, as recruitment continued to climb). After the invention of the camera, photos taken of the army spread throughout the country. These pictures helped to boost patriotism in Mordan citizens. Photos of the crippled veterans of the brief war against Vamar helped cause a flare of anti-Vamarian sentiment in the nation. Despite the anti-Vamarian sentiments of the people, the emperor had little interest in a war with Vamar. The two nations remained in an (uneasy) state of peace for some time. Despite this, technology continued to advance, and the army continued to slowly grow.
