Military Corps of Engineers

The Military Corps of Engineers is the branch of the Valanian Army concerned with the design, production, and maintenance of all military hardware used by the Legions. It is renowned for the technical skill and large paypackets of its members, and indeed many of the finest minds in Dorania are to be found here.

Naming system

The Engineers operate a unique naming system for their products. Each weapon has a randomly assigned two-letter series designation, followed by a model number. Thus the VK-4 (a jet fighter) was to be replaced by the VK-5. Due to irreparable design flaws, the VK-5 was never issued and so the VK-4 was replaced by the VK-6.

Many weapons are also known by a nickname for easy distinction. The VK-6, for example, is known as the Accipiter, which is Valanian for Hawk.

Claims of espionage

The Engineers have been accused of technical theft from other nations' armed forces. It is often claimed, for example, that the VK-6 Accipiter's radar system is significantly more advanced than anything the Valanians have ever built. While most such occurrences can be put down to a moment of brilliance, the nuclear reactor powering the NV Imperator cannot. It is most probable that Valanian spies succeded in taking nuclear material from another nation (or were given it) at around the same time as the Imperator was built. This material most likely came from Melka.
