The Grand National Assembly of Vamar is the unicameral parliament of Vamar which is the sole body given the legislative prerogatives by the Constitution of Vamar. It was founded in Fariten on 2 September 1415 in the aftermath of the fall of the Empire of Vamar. The parliament was fundamental in the efforts of (Add soon) to found a new state out of the remnants of the Vamarian Empire in the aftermath of the callapse of the Empire of Vamar. The Grand National Assembly of Vamar is made up of one house, the Grand National Assembly of Vamar.
Representation
In the Grand National Assembly, each state is represented by 70 members. Membership is therefore based on the equal representation of each state, regardless of population, for a total membership of 560, allowing for a more collegial and less partisan atmosphere that is somewhat more insulated from public opinion than other Parliaments. Members serve six-year terms that are staggered so elections are held for a third of the seats (a class) every second year. The Grand National Assembly has several exclusive powers enumerated in Article One of the Constitution not granted to the Prime Minister. For example the Prime Minister cannot ratify treaties or, with rare exceptions, make important appointments — including members of the Council of Ministers and federal judges — without the advice and consent of the Grand Assembly.
