The denarius (plural: denarii) is the currency of Valania. It is divided into 100 sestercii. The denarius enjoys the distinction of being the oldest continually existing currency in the world, as it was first struck in 236AE as the currency of the Valanian Empire. Then it had the value of about 4.5 grams of silver (and coins were therefore of this weight). Now it is worth significantly less than that, and the coins are made from base metals.
Below are images of the most recent banknotes, issued in 1536. They incorporate many new security features which, it is claimed, make them impossible to forge.
