Cisteuvian Ocean
From Scandia
Largest of Scandia's bodies of water, the Cisteuvian Ocean abuts the Naarval and Vendan Seas at its west and the Astalian and Mbalan Seas to its east. Thus, the Cisteuvian extends from a northwesterly-southeasterly line running from 50 °E-140 °E to roughly 165 °W latitude and between the Naarval and Vendan and Akanax Seas.
Bordering the Cisteuvian are the continents of Dorania, Kwasina, Naarval, Niveria, and Venda. Only Andrea and Morlel do not touch the Cisteuvian.
Covering nearly a quarter of Scandia's surface, the Cisteuvian's temperature ranges from from freezing in the poleward areas to about 29 °C (84 °F) near the equator. Salinity also varies latitudinally. Water near the equator is less salty than that found in the mid-latitudes because of abundant equatorial precipitation throughout the year. Poleward of the temperate latitudes salinity is also low, because little evaporation of seawater takes place in these frigid areas.
