Rules of Scandia
In order to keep Scandia functioning properly, certain basic rules must be in place. These rules govern the countries of Scandia, ensuring that nations are realistic and believable, and determine the ways in which nations may interact with each other. All nations and players associated with Scandia are required to conform to these rules.Rules about Territory
Rules about War
- All territories are assigned by the PlanetMaster
- Territories may be transferred from one player to another by notifying the PlanetMaster.
- A nation may expand into unoccupied territory through a vote of all Scandia players.
- No player may affect or report on the true situations of a country's internal situations without the approval of that nation's player.
Note: These rules exist here just in case something can't be worked out, and not because we like it when players can't work out differences themselves without bringing in the formula. Wars using the formula are strongly discouraged. Scandia is not a wargame.
Rules about New Games- A nation may declare war against another nation by notifying the PlanetMaster and the player of that nation.
- Wars will be decided by agreement between the two players (creating a "scripted" war).
- If no agreement is reached, wars will be decided by a formula administered by the PlanetMaster.
- If a player is absent, their nation cannot be involved in wars.
- The PlanetMaster's nation(s) shall not be involved in non-scripted wars.
- Non-player territory cannot be involved in wars.
Rules about Participation
- The PlanetMaster may call for a new game if there is no territory available.
- The PlanetMaster may call for a new game when fewer than three players are in the game.
- The PlanetMaster may call for a new game when requested to do so by a majority of players.
Rules about Webpages
- Participation is subject to the PlanetMaster's decisions.
- A player may withdraw at any time by notifying the PlanetMaster.
- Respect above everything. Nobody may insult anybody else.
- Breaking the respect rule more than once may result in expulsion.
- No obscenities are allowed.
- If a player is not heard from for 90 days, the player may be considered to have withdrawn.
- The PlanetMaster may suspend play for one week without consulting the group.
Rules about Adding Rules
- Each player must maintain their own webpages about their nation.
- Each nation's page must contain basic information about that nation, including its full name, an image of its flag, a description of its government, a map of the nation, and a link back to the Scandia page.
- All pages must be respectful, and within the scope of the game.
- All nations must be realistic (no magic, no dragons, no starships, no aliens)
- Players may use ImagiNations graphics on game-devoted websites.
- ImagiNations and Scandia are copyrighted by Edward Mooney, Jr.
Rules about the PlanetMaster
- Rules may be proposed by any member of the group.
- New rules need the support of a majority of votes to be made official.
- Each player has one vote.
Main Page
- The PlanetMaster shall base his/her decisions on a set of guidelines which serve to regulate his/her actions.
- The PlanetMaster may temporarily relenquish his role to someone else. That person must remain uninvolved in wars and disputes during that time.
